Meet the Horses of DD Mini Farm

Our horses are the heart of DD Mini Farm.

Every horse here has a story and a purpose. Some were born right here on the farm, some were carefully selected to become part of our breeding or show program, some were lovingly gifted to us, and others came into our lives because they needed another chance.

No matter how they arrived, each one is a member of our family.

Take some time to meet the horses of DD Mini Farm. You’ll quickly discover that while they may all be miniature horses, their personalities are anything but small!

Our Mares

Our mares are an important part of DD Mini Farm. Some are part of our carefully selected breeding program, while others have different roles here on the farm.

Most importantly, each one has her own personality, history, and story.

Our Stallions

Meet the stallions of DD Mini Farm.

Our breeding stallions are selected with careful consideration of conformation, temperament, pedigree, and the qualities we hope to pass along to future generations.

Our Geldings

They may not be part of the breeding program, but don’t tell them they’re any less important!

Our geldings have plenty of personality and are very much part of the DD Mini Farm family.

Foals at DD Mini Farm

Few things are more exciting than welcoming a new foal to DD Mini Farm.

Because we breed selectively, we don’t have a large number of foals every year. When we’re expecting, we’ll share pregnancy updates, foal-watch news, birth announcements, photos, and plenty of adventures as the babies grow.

About DD Mini Farm’s Horses

At DD Mini Farm, our herd is made up of treasured miniature horses — each one with a story and a purpose. Our horses have come to us through many paths: some were thoughtfully purchased, others rescued, bred here on the farm, or lovingly gifted to us. We carefully select just a few mares each year for breeding, focusing on qualities such as conformation, temperament, and suitability for therapy or showing.

A question we’re often asked is: “How can you rescue horses and still choose to breed?”
The answer lies in our mission. We breed only registered, high-quality miniature horses, with the goal of improving the breed, rather than for quantity. In fact, some years we don’t breed at all. We’re incredibly selective, and many of our horses remain with us for their entire lives. Selling is never rushed — some have been with us for years before finding the right home, and others never leave.

As a veterinarian once wisely said, “If breeders don’t breed for quality, we’ll lose quality horses.” That philosophy guides everything we do.

Each horse we place is carefully matched, ensuring that both the human and equine personalities complement one another. Our priority is finding homes that are not only loving but also financially equipped to provide long-term care. If we don’t feel a horse is the right fit, we’ll gladly help guide you toward one that is — even if that means recommending another source.

When horses are offered for sale

We do require references and ask detailed questions before any sale, especially since many of our horses are suitable for therapy work. We’ve opened our hearts to horses in need — some were purchased from difficult situations, others arrived as gifts, whether in poor condition or simply overlooked by others. Some have been lovingly rehomed, while others have found their forever pasture right here.

Each DD Mini Farm horse has a distinct personality — it’s one of the many reasons we love them so deeply. If you’re interested in volunteering, we always appreciate help with chores, especially grooming. It’s a great way to connect with these wonderful animals.

All visits are by appointment only.  Please do not just show up.  DD Mini Farm is our home, and sometimes, we may be out running errands.
